Whilst in China for four weeks in the lead up to the
Beijing 2008 Olympics, I set myself numerous tasks
exploring everyday rituals in the local area.

Creating portraits became my focus. Photographing men with bags in the morning was one set, as it struck me that it was mostly the men in the community that seemed to do the daily shopping.

Brides and Grooms in ChaoYang Park was another, the park being a popular location for both real and staged Brides and Grooms, of which I could never quite tell which was which.

For 28 days I photographed the morning meetings held outside our apartment window at Da Dong Restaurant. Photographing people sleeping simply
became an obsession.
